Positive Coaching and Parenting

This is a recreation league, the PBGYAA expects all parents to be positive to all players, referees and other parents. Bad behavior or negative cheering is not tolerated.

Player Code of Conduct

We expect all players to be respectful to all players, coaches, referees, and parents.  The Board requests that all parents and coaches encourage good sportsmanship

Coaches Meeting
Wednesday, August 15th 6:30pm– 9:00pm
All head and assistant coaches need to attend.
Location: PBG Lakeside Center at the Southeast corner of Burns Road and Military Trail

Klock Soccer Fields
All soccer activities, including evaluations, practices, and games are schedule to be conducted at the Klock Soccer Fields on Burns Road.

Player Evaluations
Evaluations will be held for all Boys and Girls age groups U8 and higher.  Evaluations give the Coaches the opportunity to see all players conduct some basic soccer skills and play in a short scrimmage.  The evaluation provides the Coaches insight into each player’s abilities and it helps to ensure that all teams are drafted with players at all skill levels. During evaluations each player is provided a number that is pinned to their shirt. Evaluations last approximately 45 minutes.

U12 Boys M-Z 1.45pm
U14 Girls 2.30pm
U14 Boys 3.15pm

The U16 and High School will be held the following week with the date to be confirmed.

Team Drafts
August 19-23rd – During the week directly following evaluations, the coaches from each gender and age group meet to draft the players onto teams.  The player draft is facilitated by Soccer Board members to ensure there is an equitable distribution of all skill level players on each team.

Please note that for any coach that has a child playing in the Fall Recreation program, this player will automatically be added to their team.  Also, for any siblings that play in the same age group, they will be drafted to the same team unless the parent requests otherwise.

August 24th After the completion of the drafts for each age group, teams will be allocated in Blue Sombrero and each parent will receive an email notification of the team their child(ren) will be playing on, along with the Coaches name and contact information.

Team Information
After the notification of what team each child will be playing on, the Coach will be communicating with all parents to introduce themselves and provide additional information regarding the practice schedule and expectations for the season.

It is appreciated if there are one or two parents willing to help the coach and coordinate the other activities for the team such as picture day, snacks, etc.

Season Schedule
Opening day Sept 15th – Picture day for U10 teams and older

Saturday, Sept 22nd – Picture day for U5, U6, and U8 teams

Tuesday, Sept 18th – no games in Observance of Yom Kippur

SUNDAY OCT 7th – games played from (Tues Sept 18th and Wed Oct 31st off dates)

Oct 19 – 21 – No Games – Competitive Program – Palm Beach Classic tournament

Wed Oct 31 no games Halloween

Team Practice
August 25 – September 8th – The team practice schedule will start August 25th and will continue until September 8th.  Each team is allocated field space for two practices a week, one weekday evening practice and also a practice on Saturday.

Once games start, it will be at the discretion of the Coach if they choose to have additional practices or not for their team. We encourage all coaches to continue practices as we will have open fields for practice. We will also have free clinics on Friday nights held by our professional trainers.

Team Uniforms and Soccer Balls
Each player is provided a soccer ball at the first practice.  Please be sure to put your child’s name on it to ensure if it is left at the fields it can be returned to you.

Uniforms will be handed out before Opening day and will only be given to the coach. The uniform kit consists of a jersey, shorts, and socks.  A range of sizes are provided to help fit the players as best as possible.  We do not take any number requests and please email us if you have uniform issues.

Games and Scheduling
All age groups games will start the week of September 9th.  Each team will play two games a week, one weekday evening game and Saturday depending upon the age group.

The official game schedule will be emailed to each parent via Blue Sombrero prior to the first week of games.  With approximately 100 teams, the scheduling process takes some time and review before the final schedule is posted.

Opening Day
Saturday, September 15th – The season’s official Opening Day will be Saturday, September 15th.  All teams play on this day, and there are other activities available for the kids including bounce houses, snow cones, and the opening of the Concession Stand.

We will also be running our annual Food Bank collection.  Nonperishable items will be collected and donated to our local community food banks.

Team and Individual Picturesare taken on opening day on Field 4.  Coaches will provide their team with the time schedule for pictures prior to the start of the team’s game.  A picture make-up date will be scheduled later in the season if necessary.

Annual Team Basket Raffle to benefit our Soccer Division Academic Scholarship fund.

Friday Night Clinics
These are free clinics for all players and are run by our professional trainers. Dates are to be confirmed.  Further information will be emailed to all parents once the season starts.  This is great opportunity for players to build on their skills, especially for those players who have not played before and are still learning the game.

Closing Day
Saturday, November 10th – The Fall Season Closing Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 10th . All teams will play on this day, including championship games for the U10 and older age groups. Other activities will be available or the kids including bounces houses, snow cones, and the

Concession Stand
The concession stand is open Tuesday – Thursday, and on Saturday all day.  Food and beverages are available for purchase.  All proceeds from the concession stand fund the Soccer Division Academic Scholarship fund.

Weather Notifications and Make Up Games
We will email parents if we have any rain outs, please note the City of Palm Beach Gardens makes the decisions on field closures. We usually do not make a decision until 5pm as we do our best to get the games played.  If a game is rained out the Board will attempt to reschedule it to be played at a later date.

Season Updates and Communication
All communication is through email and please email us if you have any questions or concerns.

You can download the Dick’s Team Sports HQ app on your Apple or Android device.  Use your Blue Sombrero login and password.  This will give you mobile access to your child’s team roster, game reminders, etc.

Cleat Collection/Swap
During the Spring Season, we collected more than 100 pairs of cleats.  The Brawley Family, a dedicated soccer family in our program has kindly spent their summer refurbishing these cleats.  During evaluations and the first week of play the refurbished cleats will be available to all soccer players in need.

General Information Section

Registration will close when a division is full. Most divisions were at capacity in the Spring and last Fall.

Cost is only $110 for Gardens’ residents. Non-residents are charged a $55 non-resident fee. This fee is a direct pass through to the City of Palm Beach Gardens. If this is your first registration of the year you will also need to select the YAA Annual Fee of $15 when registering.  $20 Late Fee may be added

Your third child is free when registered for a single sport. Please email for discount code prior to registering.

Most communication from the league is done via email. Please be sure your account has your most up to date email listed.

Once a player is registered, the following fees will not be refunded:

✔ $25 Cancellation

✔ $10 Blue Sombrero

✔ $55 Non-Resident

✔ $15 YAA

All players receive a soccer ball, uniform kit(jersey, shorts, socks), participation trophy and access to free clinics administered by trainers from the Predators Competitive teams.

Age group changes
We will be splitting all age groups by year of birth as of Jan 1st 2019 per US Soccer guidelines.
U5 will be for children born in 2014
 U6 will be for children born in 2013
U8 will be for children born in 2011 and 2012
U10 will be for children born in 2009 and 2010
U12 will be for children born in 2007 and 2008
U14 will be for children born in 2005 and 2006
U16 will be for children born in 2003 and 2004
HS will be for children born in 2000-2002
